Enjoyed a really good lunch:  Mediterranean bowl with rice, gyro meat, lettuce and all the fixings you want. Mix and match what you want from seafood, to meat and cheeses. I washed it down with delicious homemade lemonade. Friendly efficient service.

The food is not fresh.  They served us nasty old microwaved French fries, the bacon was old, precooked, and not even warmed up.  They literally placed a tiny piece of tomato on the middle on my sand which in half I toasted bread (I have no idea how that's even possible).  I called to ask why they gave us old French fries hoping they would admit their mistakes and replace everyone's French fries (as no one in my office ate them due to them being comparable to a microwaved sock) and the woman instead said all their food is fresh and made to order.

Stopped by on the way to my parents. I love Greek food and was surprised to see an outpost in Lakewood, NJ (not known for it's culinary wonders).
We were warmly greeted by Tracey and sat at the counter to order take-away.
While we were waiting Tracey offered us a beverage on the house. So nice! Then she brought over a little spinach pie to taste. It was delicious.
Greek food is one of my favorite cuisines and I am very picky. I ordered the gyro sandwich and F got the falafel sandwich. Both came with free french fries that day.
Our orders came in a timely fashion and were so large and stuffed, I couldn't even finish.
The room is large and airy with a back view on greenery. I was told, outdoor seating is in the works, which would be lovely facing the trees and removed from the road.
I am so glad this privately owned restaurant has moved to the area.

    Updated 2/22
I love their food but constantly disappointed in the amount I'm given. I ordered a small salad for $6.25. I added a protein for $4 more. I wish the amount of salad didn't change when I added gyro meat. I cant imagine this is the amount of salad I would get if I ordered a small salad, no meat.  The last time however, I paid a lot less this time thankfully because I chose to order online to make side I didn't overpay like last time.
It's really such a shame because I love their Greek food.

Updated: was totally excited to grab a Greek salad today with some gyro meat. I ordered and for some reason I feel like I got the start salad size ($6.25) with the meat on top ($3.00) but paid for a platter ($12.95) plus the meat making my bill for a small Greek salad $15.95. I didn't get any white sauce.. no pita.. and no grape leaves. It's still took forever and there was literally not one other patron in there

Took and order to go. An appetizer salad and a chicken orzo.  The salad was delicious.  It was pre dressed and lots of feta in it. Also had two stuffed grape leaves in it. The chicken orzo was a little mushy but had great taste.  It took awhile for the order to come out but I didn't mind hanging around and watching the place abuzz for the lunch rush.  If picking up during lunch hour I suggest calling first to make sure your order is ready when you get there. Had I been in a rush, I would have had to say something. Wish the new establishment well as they seemed to be thriving!  Food was good. I cannot wait to try other Greek specialities

I passed by Papous Place a few times but today I decided to stop in and have lunch with my Mr. since we were in the area. First it is a bit awkward to find it, but it is NJ land of annoying jug handles but I just took the jug-handle at Shop-Rite and back tracked. Walked in and were seated right away by a window, So my photos will have the sun shadow. The restaurant is really large and airy, decorated warmly. They didn't have any Greek music playing but I would guess they do.

Anyway, we started off with the lemonade which was delicious and refreshing, reminded me of the lemonade I used to get at Hot Dog on a Stick at the mall, the perfect blend of sweet and lemon sour, just wish they had bigger glasses. For appetizers I ordered the Dolmades which are stuffed grape leaves and they were delicious, its one of my favorite things to eat and with extra squeezes of lemon, I seriously could eat a dozen of these and not bat an eyelash. Saganaki was what Mr ordered, it was not flambe style and I honestly prefer it without that flambe, just grilled and melty with lemon of course. Mr really enjoyed this a lot. The price is a bit steep at $7.95 for 1 slice, I would have preferred it be two slices per order, but I'd pay that price again, it was a good appetizer.

We both ordered the gyro platter $12.95 it was a lot of food. The rice was fluffy and light, Greek salad was lettuce, tomato plenty of kalamata olives which I really appreciated, so many skimp on the olives, cucumber and feta cheeeeeeeese, just enough red onion and the salad dressing was lemony and seasoned well, it was very refreshing. The gyro meat was sliced thin and it may look deceiving but there was enough food on both our plates to actually be enough to take home for an almost 3rd full meal.
Lets talk Tzatziki sauce, it was traditional with a little more garlic then some I have had, and I liked that it enhanced the meat, pita was warm and held up well to the piling I was doing. We also ordered 1 each of chicken souvlaki $2.80 and pork $2.45, both very good and would order again.

Food came out hot and plentiful, I did have a %15 off coupon from the Howell/Jackson Green Edition Community Coupon Book and it was applied. We didn't experience any of the new business hiccups that other patrons did, they must have worked them out, because it was definitely a wonderful lunch experience and we will be back.
